Bob Lamont - Treasurer Bio

Bob has been interested in cars since......Oh well, it's been a longtime. His first car, at age 17 was a 1963 Austin Healy Sprite. He soon learned that this car was not made for performance and jumped to a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda, Formula S. The 'Cuda with a 383 and 4 speed tranny performed a whole lot better and it introduced him to drag racing. Bob and two friends soon began racing a project car which they built in their garage. They put together a 1963 Ford Falcon with a Plymouth 426 wedge motor , torqueflite automatic trans, Art Carr shifter and a bucket seat. This car was his summer fun until being drafted into the Army in the fall of 1969.

Within six weeks after returning from Viet Nam in the fall of 1971, Bob bought his first old car. It was a 1931 Chevrolet 5 window coupe, which didn't run but was in fairly decent shape. That winter, Bob and the Chevy spent alot of time together. By the spring of 1972, the Chevy was running with a Ford 289 under the hood coupled to a C-4 trans and an 8 track tape player. By early summer, it sported a new paint job, new tires and polished aluminium wheels. It was now ready for cruising! Soon after the car was finished, Bob met his future bride Marilyn. They were married two years later, bought a new home and sold the '31 Chevy and began raising their two children, Erin and Bob. Only after putting the kids through college, did Bob again manage to find the time and funds buy another '31 Chevy. This time it was a 2 door sedan and unfortunately in separate pieces. Another unfortunate circumstance was Bob's thinking he had the time needed to restore it. Well, five years later the Chevy was sold and Bob found a completed Street Rod to replace it. His current pride and joy, a Yelo '40 Ford was purchased in Omaha Nebraska in 2001.

Bob and Marilyn have been married now for 29 years and reside in Lemont, IL. In addition to son Rob and daughter Erin, their extended family includes son-in-law Joe. Bob, an electrician by trade, is a charter member of the Rollin' Kruisers and also a past Commander of the Lemont VFW Post 5819. He loves working on cars and anything with an automotive theme. He considers the Rollin' Kruisers an ongoing project created by a group of dedicated car enthusiasts.
